Seven today - one double
Hopefully a nice priced winner will come out of here somewhere. Beginning to have real trouble putting bets on, will have to do something about it soon.
Good luck to:
Dylanesque Newbury 13:30 5/1 betfred 4/1 bet365
Forty Thirty Bangor 14:25 £10.94 paddy power 12/1 skybet 12/1 £71.64
Belanak Bangor 15:00 £25 12/1 will hil, 16.50 betfred 12/1 £23 11/1 boylesports £18.08 11/1 skybet
Bagamoyo Ripon 15:20 9/2 bet365
Chorizo Bangor 16:45 £36 11/2 betfred £40 stan james 5/1 £6.58 bet365 9/2
Funday Newbury 17:25 £40 4/1 will hill; £42.58 7/2 bet365
Oscar Royal Market Rasen 18:40 Totesport £63 Sky bet £62.15 16/1 the rest bet365 14/1 DOUBLE
Well that's a bit more like it! Although at about 14:30 I was wondering if it could be a bonanza day, which it wasn't to be. Forty Thirty paid me 13.63/1 because of best odds guaranteed on the meagre amount paddy power allowed me to have on it, combined with the rest on with skybet (and their lack of BOG). It all amounts to a 6.63pt profit on the day.
I didn't see Oscar Royal's race (I think I was nappy changing at the time), but according to the SL website he had been making progress but then pulled up when in third place, but I don't know if he was genuinely close to having a go and picked up a problem - a shame as it would have been a massive return, still hey ho.
Here's confirmation of results with SPs
Dylanesque, 7th, 7/2
Forty Thirty, 1st, 16/1
Belanak, PU, 8/1
Bagamoyo, 3rd, 4/1
Chorizo, 7th, 9/2

Back home!! Four today one double
From yesterday afternoon we've had our little girl home! She's fab and it's fantastic to have her here.
To celebrate hopefully a winner or two from one of these:
Mey Blossom Beverley 15:15 13/2 coral
Passkey Sandown 16:00 13/2 will hill £46.20 5/1 skybet 118.96 DOUBLE
Farleigh Sandown 16:35 £18 11/1 betfred 10/1 bet365 £64.58
Milesian King Stratford 18:40 12/1 bet365
Well not a great return unfortunately, without a winner today. Mey Blossom apparently stumbled badly leaving the stalls and in a five furlong race that's never the best start is it!?
Anyway here's confirmation:
Mey Blossom, 8th, 4/1sp
Passkey, 3rd, 6/1
Farleigh, 6th, 7/1
Milesian King, 6th, 12/1

Update
Hi all,
Things going well here, my wife's now noved back into hospital with our little one, which should be the next step before they can both come home, so hopefully not too long now!
As for here, well my Dad's still being putting the bets on, although it's been a pretty rotten recent run. It's funny, I didn't realise just how bad until the last hour or so when I updated things properly. Shows how my mind's been so much on other things.
Overall level stakes profit now stands at 174.84pts, which is down 23pts from peak. My own bank is now on £2072.88, but still in good shape re. my staking plan.
As is normally the case with poor runs, we've had a load of seconds and quite a thirds, but hopefully the winners will correct things soonish. We've had one winner from the last 22 stakes.
Mostly decent value about as I keep banging on about that's the main thing!
As I've said before, I'll be back properly just as soon as possible.
Cheers,
CD

Quick hello
Just to say things are progressing well here with our little girl, she's still in hospital getting some extra help but will hopefully be home in the next week or two!
In the meantime my wife and I are spending near on all day with her, hence no blog updates. The bets are still being placed, and the bank reached a new high, by a very small amount, on monday, but since then 7 or 8 losers have gone in - but with good value on nearly all of them! Will be back here properly just as soon as possible.
Hope things are good where you are - I'm finding fatherhood fantastic so far!
Best wishes,

Quick update
Hi, sorry for recent lack of updates but I think you'll understand if I tell you my wife and I now have a beautiful baby girl!
She was born yesterday (thursday) afternoon, four weeks early, is a tad on the little side but is doing really really well. She's absolutely fantastic.
It all means regular postings here may not appear for a little while I'm afraid, although bets are still being placed thanks to my Dad.
Yesteday saw a four point profit from three selections with Trotsky doing the business, but today saw five points lost, with a couple of seconds thrown in.
Anyway will be back on here as soon as things settle back down! I should be able to do evening catch up updates more regularly soon, but there's little chance of pre-race selections being put up for a while.
All the best to you,
CD

Nope not today, a frustrating couple of non runners and then Sparkling Montjeu looked to all the world like she'd win easily (traded at 1.04 in running) before being hauled in in the last 100 yards. Four points lost on the day and we look for better tomorrow.

Santefisio Salisbury 20:40 4/1 paddy power
A really good day, with a couple of winners including a double staker which is always a nice bonus. Lady Of The Desert ran really well and won easily and Bravely was a really gutsy winner. Santefisio ran a decent race as well and kept up a good day for value too. 13 point profit on the day, lovely!

York 7.00 Hoof It 15-2 W Hill
Nkt 7.40 Aye Aye Digby 7-2 B365
Nkt 8.10 Lochiel 11-2 B365
Well 5.5pts lost on the day, although when Lochiel continued to be hammered into I thought we might have a winner in the last for the third day running to sort things out. Sadly Lochiel wasn't aware of the requirements, rearing in the stalls and unseating his rider. Mutajaseer in the first was backed from I think a morning high of 20/1 to go off 7/2 but ran abysmally, so some money lost there by the looks of it.
Aye Aye Digby was a good winner though and meant the day wasn't a major disaster.

Epsom 6.35 Our Piccadilly 7-1 Bet365
Donny 7.20 Kingswinford 8-1 W Hill DOUBLE STAKER
Epsom 8.45 Spirit of Sharjah 8-1 Bet365
A triumph in the getting out stakes again! Really enjoyed Spirit of Sharjah's win, doing really well to reel in the two leaders near the line, brilliant.
Opened on track at 9/2 before a bizarre drift as I assume the layers got really stuck in on betfair, well they got their fingers pretty burned with that one. Otherwise listening to commentary Our Piccadilly seemed pretty unlucky in running while Kingswinford was a running on fourth, while Jontys Lass drifted and ran to suit.
Here's confirmation:
Jontys Lass, 7th, 33/1 sp
Our Piccadilly, 3rd, 5/1
Kingswinford, 4th, 15/2
Spirit of Sharjah, 1st, 8/1
Just about to update the last few days results as well. Just to say as well that CD junior is doing well, lots of monitoring but no early arrival yet am delighted to say!

Bang 8.30 Koh Sumui 7-1 Bet365
Full blogging a little thin on the ground just at the moment, but just to say a blank today, completed by Koh Sumui's bizarre run at bangor where he continued to be well supported before the jockey pulled him up before the second fence (and then couldn't stop him running for about a mile). Obviously there must have been some mishap but not sure what. Yesterday saw 2.5pt profit. Will update with full results and sps when I can.

Windsor 7.50 Miss Holywell 10-1 Bet365
Beverley 8.00 Kidson 7-1 Totesport
Bev 8.30 Trumpstoo 7-1 VC Bet
Good winner here with Amazing King doing the business very well. Kidson looked the likely winner in the 8.00 before the actual winner came out of the clouds to storm clear.
Here's confirmation of results and sps:
Look Busy, 6th, 3/1
Amazing King, 1st, 6/1
Lordship, 9th, 20/1

Quick update
First of all, thanks very much for the kind comments following yesterday's post, very much appreciated.
Just to say things aren't going so well with our little baby at the moment unfortunately. We think everything should be fine, but it may be that he or she comes along a bit sooner than planned!
Anyway naturally it means that my priorities are elsewhere at the moment. My dad's looking for selections on my behalf and will be placing bets but it's likely the blog won't get updated much in the near future. Ironically today there were no selections anyway!
Hopefully all will be fine and i'll be back updating things as ever before here soon but it may be a little while.
In the meantime all the best and good luck in giving the bookies a bashing.
Regards, CD

Eight today - four doubles
Another very busy day
Good luck to:
Love Match Newbury 14:00 £44 9/2 betfred £82.56 4/1 bet365 DOUBLE
Lady Rusty Newbury 15:45 12/1 bet365
Lucky Numbers Haydock 16:05 7/1 ladbrokes
Sister Clement Newbury 16:20 7/2 stake will hill DOUBLE
French Art Haydock 17:15 £36 stan james £36 betfred both 11/2 the rest Will Hill 5/1 DOUBLE
Bobby Charles Newmarket 17:40 14/1 will hill
Mutamaashi Newmarket 19:45 10/1 bet365
Fat Boy Newmarket 20:20 9/2 Coral DOUBLE
Well just over a point lost on the day, and it felt like things just didn't really happen as they could have. Lots of cash for a load of these and good value was had with plenty of these. A few in fairness ran pretty well but just the one winner, with Sister Clement winning very easily (another damn r4 10p deduction - getting really fed up with stupid non runners). Lucky Numbers was beaten in a photo by a 33/1 shot after looking to take a winning run into the final furlong. Hey ho, on we go.
Here's confirmation:
Love Match, 5th, 4/1sp
Lady Rusty, 7th, 13/2
Lucky Numbers, 2nd, 9/2
Sister Clement, 1st, 11/4
French Art, 8th, 3/1

Nine today four doubles
Big day, good luck to:

My Gacho Leicester 15:15 7/1 coral
Leonid Glow Hamilton 16:35 15/2 vcbet

Plaisterer Doncaster 20:40 5/1 bet365
Heaven Bath 20:55 9/2 vcbet double
A good day, although at about 15:20 I was beginning to wonder if it may be the day from heaven! All three winners showing admirable qualities, Agglestone Rock may be something very special, My Gacho was incredibly game and Plaisterer's jock Jack Mitchell gave him an absolutely brilliant ride to get up to win easily (r4 10p ded). 3/9 for the day, and a 10.5profit on the day which I'm pretty pleaed with.
Anyway here's confirmation of results and sps
Agglestone Rock, 1st, 10/3

Three today
Three today, although two in the same race which I don't normally like doing. Really slow patch at the moment in terms of numbers of bets, which is quite frustrating but have to be patient.
Good luck to:
Den Maschine Catterick 16:00 5/1 betfred
Olmeto Collonges Worcester 21:10 7/1 will hill
Coltscroft Worcester 21:10 14/1 will hill
Nope not today, 0/3 although Den Maschine ran pretty well beaten just a length at Catterick. Coltscroft had a funny betting spell going right out to 20/1 and much bigger on betfair before being backed in to 12s just before the off. Olmeto Colonges was very nicely backed all day but didn't run to suit.
Hope for a tad better tomorrow!
Here's confirmation:
Den Maschine, 2nd, 6/1sp
Olmeto Collonges, 4th, 7/2
Coltscroft, 8th, 12/1

Three today
Relatively quiet period at the moment, with three single stakers today. Another damn bookie restricting stakes now, with Paddy Power refusing to accept more than £33.25 on Half A Crown, pathetic.
Anyway good luck to:
Half A Crown Beverley 15:15 £33.25 at 13/2 paddy power £30.03 at 6/1 with bet365
Style Icon Yarmouth 19:20 12/1 will hill
Lord Theo Yarmouth 19:50 5/1 bluesq
A quiet day and no returns, with Style Icon annoyingly a non runner. Half A Crown drifted before the off which isn't good and then didn't do much before Lord Theo shaped well for a long time but found little tonight after continuing to be well supported. Another runner in the race that was well backed ended up being narrowly beaten into second.
Here's confirmation:
Half A Crown, 6th, 8/1
Style Icon NON RUNNER
Lord Theo, 6th, 7/2

Four today
Could do with a couple of double stakers to kick start things again, but single stakes for these four.
Good luck to:
Dubai To Barnsley Ayr 14:00 6/1 bet365
Spare Change Newton Abbot 15:45 5/1 paddy power
Gem Mill Newton Abbot 16:45 6/1 boylesports
Sion Hill Ayr 17:00 9/2 vcbet
Decent day today, with Spare Change winning the 15:45 well showing great battling qualities. Dubai to Barnsley and Gem Mill were never in it, with Gem Mill running surely well below par pulling up on near enough the first circuit despite continuing to be reasonably supported. Obviously the last at Ayr was abandoned because of the pile up earlier in the day.
Confirmation of results and sps:
Dubai To Barnsley, 4th, 5/1
Spare Change, 1st, 4/1
Gem Mill, PU, 9/2

Four today
Some nice prices about, but not so good for best odds guaranteed with the middle two having conventional odds. Sporting bet let me have just over £6 - really need to find a new sporting bet account from somewhere.
Anyway good luck to:
Deadline Stratford 15:00 9/1 will hill
Lord Ryeford Stratford 15:30 11/1 sporting bet 10/1 totesport
Harcas Perth 15:45 9/2 betfred
King Ar Aghaidh Southwell 17:00 7/1 will hill
Not happening today either, so a blank weekend, although most of these ran pretty well. The challenge of recovering from Monday's losses falling short in the end, despite giving it a damn good go and looking good on Friday night. Still as I've always said with a strike rate of around 16/17% you're always going to get rough patches so it's just the way it works out sometimes. The most important thing is that the selections are starting shorter at SP than backed, and this is continuing to be the case in the great majority of cases.
Here's confirmation of today with sps:
Deadline, 3rd, 4/1
Lord Ryeford, 3rd, 9/1
Harcas, 4th, 9/2
King Ar Aghaidh, 2nd, 7/2

Four today
A few to look forward today, with four selections backed, no double stakes again though.
Good luck to:
Lord Zenith Newmarket 14:00 6/1 will hill
Great Charm Ascot 16:10 20/1 vcbet
Stevie Thunder Ascot 16:45 9/2 totesport
Inspirina Chester 21:20 9/2 stan james 4/1 will hill
Well another good day, with Inspirina winning the last really well. As is normally my way, am left with a slight sense of what may have been with Great Charm having been withdrawn after the ludicrous stalls problem at Ascot! But still another 2.5 pts back on Monday's losses, and almost back level for the week. Will update full results/sps tomorrow.

Two today
Bit later updating than normal, because of damn meetings at work getting in the way. Just a couple today anyway. I had backed Whitcombe Spirit as well but that's now a non-runner unfortunately.
Good luck to:
Perfect Silence Warwick 16:05 4/1 bet365
Indian Trail Newmarket 16:55 4/1 bet365
Another profitable day, Perfect Silence showing real battling qualities to win the 4.05. Indian Trail got stuck behind a wall of horses but so did many others in the last at Newmarket. Sadly there was a 10p R4 deduction on Perfect Silence but still a decent afternoon.
Here's confirmation:
Perfect Silence, 1st, 9/4sp
Indian Trail, 7th, 9/2

No selections today
Sadly no selections today, possibly less money being chucked about because of inconsistent weather? There are two or three horses which would be picked if it wasn't for the fact they're running over the all weather, for example Hawaana tonight at Kempton. But as I've mentioned before, they're not reliable enough, so no runners backed here today.
Tuesday, 7 July 2009
Four today
Back in action with four today, all single stakes.
Good luck to:
Take It To The Max Pontefract 14:30 8/1 betfred
Hey Up Dad Pontefract 17:30 6/1 bet365
Willies Way Uttoxeter 20:50 13/2 vcbet
Chinara Uttoxeter 21:20 9/1 bet365
Bounced back nicely today with a 7pt profit, thanks to Take It To The Max winning the first nicely. Hey Up Dad traded much shorter in running after halving in price at SP but couldn't follow the earlier win up, and then no racing tonight of course becuase of the unsafe ground at Uttoxeter, although Willies Way was already marked down as a non runner.
Anyway almost half of yesterdays losses gone, and July at back above 30pts profit again, so much happier.
Here's confirmation:
Take It To The Max, 1st, 5/1
Hey Up Dad, 4th, 3/1

An extraordinary day - ten double stakes
This is quite an amazing day, lots and lots of horses being heavily punted, a race to get the best prices.
I've backed all these with double stakes
Good luck to:
Helping Hand Brighton 14:30 14/1 bet365/ betfred
Baizically Musselburgh 14:45 100/30 will hill
Moon Money Musselburgh 15:15 4/1 totesport

Warners Bay Musselburgh 16:45 9/1 will hill
Sircozy Windsor 19:00 7/1 bet365
Special Reserve Windsor 20:00 8/1 will hill
Ursula Ripon 20:20 6/1 vcbet
Jebel Tara Ripon 20:50 10/1 coral
Ok from this day on today will be remembered as Black Monday. A hideous run of defeats halts the recent successes in no uncertain terms, with 16pts dropped on the day. Two non-runners saved more damage - although I can't help thinging Another Grand was potentially a big payout foiled, with the horse backed from my 16s to around 5/1 on course before working himself up so much in the stalls the horse got withdrawn. Otherwise got better than SP with most of these, which is the target, but still a really bad day and thank goodness I reduced stakes the other day. Still well up on the month but there's nothing like a few heavy defeats to bring you back to earth.
Let's hope for better tomorrow, the challenge is now set - can I get a profitable week from a -16pt defecit on the Monday, let's see.
Here's confirmation:

Let's hope for better tomorrow, the challenge is now set - can I get a profitable week from a -16pt defecit on the Monday, let's see.

Two today
Just a couple today, it's good luck to:
Boy Dancer Ayr 15:10 16/1 bet365
Toto Skyllachy Ayr 16:40 15/2 bet365
As pretty much as non-descript day as you could possibly have, with Boy Dancer well beaten and Toto Skyllachy a non runner.
It's been an excellent week though - I wonder what the next seven days will bring.

Four today - two double stakes
On we press with four selections today,
Good luck to:
Mister Hughie Beverley 14:15 6/1 stan james/betfred DOUBLE STAKE
Alfathaa Sandown 14:40 15/2 bet365
Celtic Change Haydock 17:45 11/2 coral
Colonel Sherman Nottingham 18:20 8/1 paddy power DOUBLE STAKE
What a day of sport by the way - Eclipse, Lions, Wimbledon final - brilliant, just need a winner or two along the way to make things even better!
A profitable day, with Celtic Change winning in a very very tight photo finish. Mister Hughie ran quite well and didn't have any excuses but I thought Alfathaa was given a bit too much to do in the Coral Challenge. Colonel Sherman was a non-runner which was a bit of a shame as he'd been very nicely backed.
Here's confirmation with sps:
Mister Hughie, 3rd, 9/2
Alfathaa, 5th, 7/1
Celtic Change, 1st, 9/2
Colonel Sherman NON RUNNER

Reducing stakes
This may sound crazy given the fantastic run I've been having recently, but I am going to change my staking plan slightly from tomorrow (or today given it's past midnight).
With the bank sitting at £2588.63, my single stakes should be £52.83, using my 2% of betting bank system.
Regular readers of the blog will probably remember that the safety mechanism kicks in when the bank halves, the stakes halve. I.e I would bet until the bank is reduced to £1294.32 and then reduce stakes to £25.89.
But I am at a point now where I don't really want to lose £1300 odd quid, it's a lot of money, and it's not as if I'm made of money. This could happen in just a few days if a few double stakers lose (although they're flying in at the moment!).
The bottom line is we're saving for the baby coming, preparing for being down to one salary, trying to pay off a few debts here and there, basically living a pretty frugal lifestyle. So do I want to go and lose £1300 in a few days? Not really.
Now obviously if the winners keep flying in then all this is immaterial and my bank here will continue to shoot up and break £10k (and the rest!) - but maybe it won't.
So I will now be staking 1% of my bank on selections (2% of bank on double stake selections). But another difference is I will NOT be reducing my stakes if the bank reduces by half at any point, I will keep plouging forward.
So today my core stake will be £26.42 win singles - still a decent amount and still enough to hammer the bookies with a few nice wins - and every time the bank climbs to a new high a new 1% of bank stake will be found.
The 2% stake has been good to me, it's accelerated growth and done it's job. Now it's time to get in the trenches, keep what I've won - and battle on with confidence and no fear.
Good luck to us all in our pursuit for riches.

Seven today - three double stakes
Really a potentially huge day ahead, with some big priced selections and some very heavily backed selections.
Good luck to:
Sporting Gesture Doncaster 14:00 15/2 will hill
Kiwi Bay Doncaster 16:10 14/1 will hill
Charging Indian Warwick 16:20 10/1 bet365/ sky bet double stake
Greylami Sandown 16:35 9/1 vc bet double stake
Looks The Business Warwick 17:25 9/2 bet365 double stake
Kuanyao Salisbury 20:40 5/1 will hill
Saharan Royal Salisbury 21:10 11/2 will hill
Well a good profitable day with a couple of excellent winners. Can't help think what may have been though with Greylami trading at 1.03 in running before being touched off - would have been a huge return with the double stake. Still, mustn't complain and the added bonus of Kuanyao drifting to 6/1 on course after being very nicely backed this morning. Have noticed how quite a few of my evening racing selections recently have drifted a bit at night, maybe because all the money which has gone on them has already been gambled? Anyway they still seem to be running pretty well in the main so best odds guaranteed seemingly the way forward for these selections, if it's only half a point or so lost in the morning?
Anyway here's confirmation of today's results with sps:
Sporting Gesture, 5th, 15/2
Kiwi Bay, 5th, 11/2
Charging Indian, 8th, 11/1
Greylami, 2nd, 6/1
Looks The Business, 1st, 11/4
Kuanyao, 1st, 6/1
Saharan Royal, 10th, 15/2

Four today - three doubles
Explosive little day today, with three double stakers.
Good luck to:
Hawridge King Haydock 16:40 7/1 ladbrokes/ sky bet double stake
Dobravany Yarmouth 17:30 4/1 boylesports double stake
Saxby Redcar 19:45 5/1 boylesports
Ocean Transit Newbury 20:40 6/1 vcbet double stake
A funny day, with a great 7/1 double stake win in the first setting things up very nicely.. Sadly there were that many non runners that we were hit with a big 55p R4 deduction, bit of a shame because the horse looked to win very comfortably and must have had a great chance to win even if the field was complete. My/our £156.96 returned £651.39, so that's 3.154/1 (still comfortably ahead of the SP am pleased to say).
Otherwise a blank, with Ocean Transit a non-runner and Saxby a bit unlucky in running.
Here's confirmation:
Hawridge King, 1st, 2/1sp
Dobravany, 5th, 4/1
Saxby, 3rd, 7/2
Ocean Transit NON RUNNER

Six today - two double stakes
Could be an explosive day - a double staked 16/1 shot in the first no less, although I've had to split stakes between three different bookies.
Good luck to:
Freedom Flying Worcester 15:10 double stake - 16/1 will hill stan james coral
Paperchaser Perth 15:50 11/1 double stake - bet365
Kempley Green Worcester 16:10 5/1 stan james / coral
Kells Castle Perth 16:20 9/1 sporting bet 8/1 paddy power
Tarsus Worcester 16:40 7/1 ladbrokes
Starstruck Peter Chepstow 20:10 11/2 will hill
A fantastic start to the month! Paperchaser landing a big gamble and a lovely double stake selection to boot, and then Starstruck makes all to win the last, with best odds guaranteed in play to return at 8/1.
The only sour note was Worcester having to be abandoned, with one or two very nice looking gambles possibly derailed.
Here's confirmation:
Freedom Flying ABANDONED MEETING
Paperchaser, 1st, 4/1sp
Kempley Green ABANDONED MEETING
Kells Castle, 4th, 11/2

Joyful June
June was the best month so far, and I'll be doing well to beat it in the near future. Most of the explosive gains came in the first couple of weeks, ironically just as I began to put bets on for my group of eleven friends/family. I always pointed out that the terrific gains that were seen were unrealistic to keep up, although the latter part of the month hasn't been too bad either, in as much as things have been ticking over ok with regular enough winners, but without a little flood of wins which will come along every now and then.
My own bank has leapt from £273.60 to £1,174.51, a percentage growth of 329.28%. This could have been better had it not ended with a run of eleven stakes without a win (ten defeats). Quite extraordinary to think that if something similar happens in July my bank would be on £5,041.94, and then if it happens again it would be on £21,644.05! Anway there's me getting stupid, it won't happen, but it's nice to dream ;)
Here are the stats for June
Total stakes - 142
Total wins - 27
Strike rate - 19.01%
Average odds - 7.75/1
Average winning odds - 7.42/1
Return on investment - 60.01%
Profit/Loss - +85.22pts
As for the future, in terms of realistic targets, my average monthly profit in terms of level stakes is currently + 19.29pts.
So anything around that figure would be just fine. At current stakes this means I hope my bank will be at around £1,755.52.
Let's see where this rollercoaster will take us next!
Just as a footnote, regular readers of this blog may remember the staking plan I am doing for my group of "investors" I am putting on for - i.e a 1.5% level stake figure is found at the start of every month.
I started putting on for them on the last day of May, starting at £1100, with stakes of £16.50. Their bank is now on £2440.05. meaning their new stakes will now be: £36.60 win singles.

Seven today
Busy day ahead, a couple of these close to being a double staker, but just single stakes, some being very nicely backed.
Jonny Ebeneezer Brighton 14:30 11/2 stan james/ skybet
Whispering Spirit Hamilton 15:15 7/1 boylesports
Sampower Quin Brighton 16:00 7/1 bet365
Peintre dArgent Hamilton 16:15 6/1 ladbrokes
Parks Prodigy Thirsk 18:30 7/2 will hill
Eljays Boy Stratford 19:45 9/1 will hill
Artsu Thirsk 21:00 8/1 will hill
A disappointing end to June, with a blank for the day, and two frustrating non-runners. When Artsu moved nicely into position in the last after being backed from 8/1 to 100/30 I thought the day would end nicely, but he found little and got run out of it.
Will be back later for a monthly review.

Backing at Betfair SP
Just spent around an hour going through all the wins since this plan started back in November replacing the prices I won at with Betfair SP, to see if it would be profitable to back these selections at Betfair SP.
Obviously the aim of my plan is to back horses which are the subject of market moves, at an artificially high price, to hopefully beat the industry SP and therefore lock in an edge. With this in mind, it would perhaps not be surprising if just backing at SP heralded no profit whatsoever, or even left us with a loss.
Interestingly, backing at betfair SP HAS made a profit - of 38.12pts (assuming a betfair charge of 5% on successful wins). If you had a betfair charge of 2.5%, the bank would be sitting on 52.20 pts in profit.
Comparing this to my actual level stakes profit of 158.64pts, it's obviously not that impressive. But it's still interestig to show that backing horses at Betfair SP which have been the subject of (in some cases) significant market moves, then you can still make money (at least from my current sample of nearly 600 bets).
However, the important conclusion is that the horses I am selecting are, in a vast majority of cases, being backed at better prices than they go off at at post time, and that is what it's all about.

Weekly update
Update for week Monday June 22nd - Sunday June 28th.
An excellent week, helped by a couple of decent double stake wins at 8/1 and 6/1.
Quite incredible how the staking plan's kicked in, 14.5pt profit a couple of months ago would have meant about £50 profit or so.
20 bets
3 wins (15%)
3 placed (15%)
Level stakes profit: +14.5pts
My own bank profit: + £364.87
The gang I put bets on for will see a new stake going on from July 1st, they'll go from £16.50 to about £35 or so (tbc after tomorrow's results) , so fireworks in store there too.

Four today
Some nice prices about today but no double stakers.
Good luck to:
Premier Krug Pontefract 14:45 9/1 will hill
Sweet Gale Pontefract 15:45 8/1 coral
Sadaska Pontefract 16:15 8/1 bet365
Dubai To Barnsley Musselburgh 19:25 15/2 will hill
Well the week starts poorly with 0/3 and one non runner. We had another big drifter, in Sadaska, which is the third time that's happened in the last few days, after a few months when that rarely happened at all. The others continued to shorten though.
The last day of the month tomorrow. June's been fanastic and if July can return even a quarter, or a fifth of what's been able to be achieved this month that'd be fine.
Here's confirmation of today's results:.
Premier Krug, 6th, 7/1 sp

Just one today - but it's a double staker
Had a good run with lightly/unraced maidens recently and another being very heavily backed this morning.
Good luck to :
Pointillist Salisbury 16:45 7/1 bet365 double stake
Well an odd performance by Pointillist, with her moving nicely into contention about 2 out but then Seb Sanders suddenly just stopped riding her and she dropped like a stone through the pack to finish second last. Have no idea whether she lost her action or something but to me it looked a weird ride. Anyway whatever a couple of points dropped on the day.

Two today - one double stake
Interesting couple of runners, particularly the first, which like last Saturday sees an unraced two year old being hammered into. I took the 6/1 with bet365 but annoyingly totesport's just flashed up with 7/1 although I doubt that'll last long.
Good luck to:
Dorback Windsor 14:30 6/1 bet365 double
Mystery Star Newmarket 16:00 4/1 will hill
An excellent day with 11 pts of profit thanks to Dorback who fully justified a huge morning gamble. Like last week's 2yo debutant winner, the selection drifted a bit on track before winning well, but still we managed to beat the SP.
Mystery Star was quite soundly beaten even though he was reasonably backed.
Here's confirmation
Dorback, 1st, 11/2sp
Mystery Star, 5th, 3/1
Dorback's win means my bank's at a new high, which means stakes increase slightly to £30.12.

Don't like this rain that's falling/coming, hope that doesn't affect things badly.

Earlsmedic Folkestone 16:15 7/1 bet365
Tutor Market Rasen 16:25 9/2 vcbet
Sand Repeal Folkestone 16:45 7/2 bet365
Minority Report Newcastle 20:25 5/1 ladbrokes double stake
Well back home after crashing out from a poker tournament after making a really poor all-in call with AQ suited (came up vs AK, no help and out). Could have folded and still been well in there but just put the guy on a wrong hand, and was also in a mood to gamble for some reason. Very annoying but still an enjoyable evening out.
As for today's results, not the best, although Sand Repeal won well. Minority Report after reasonably backed in the morning drifted massively early evening and then on course, and then came a tailed off last, I assume somebody knew something with that one and a few quid was made hitting the lay button, it'll certainly be interesting to see whether he's produced to win sometime soon.
Here's confirmation:
Oskari, 11th, 16/1sp
Earlsmedic, 9th, 6/1
Tutor, 12th, 7/2
Sand Repeal, 1st, 5/2
Minority Report, 8th, 11/1
By the way, RIP Michael Jackson, a sad day.
Don't like this rain that's falling/coming, hope that doesn't affect things badly.

Just the two today
Finally out of meetings this morning, and fortunately it's quite a quiet day, with just two selections
Good luck to:
Kay Gee Be Newcastle 15:30 6/1 will hill
Just Five Newcastle 17:30 9/2 vc bet
A poor day, with both selections drifting and without a winner. Kay Gee Be ran quite well though, leading going into the final furlong before being collared, but a couple of points dropped today
Confirmation of results/sps
Kay Gee Be, 3rd, 7/1sp
Just Five, 8th, 9/1.
Am quite amazed by Just Five's drift by the way, the biggest for quite a while, not sure if he bolted off pre race or something? Anyway I hope for better tomorrow.

Donations button/meetings
Just to say I've added a donate button through paypal over on the left hand side there, hopefully it's not too obtrusive! I don't expect any donations and not assuming I'll get any by any means, but just figured I may as well put an option there if people felt so inclined. Whether you'd like to use it or not there'll be no hard feelings this end whatsoever!
Also I have meetings at work today this morning which will hamper my ability to crack into the best odds but as ever will post on here as early as I can. Have a good day.

Five today - one double staker
A big day coming up, with a huge double staker in the first race to look forward to. I had to split stakes on that race because Bet365 win limit's £1000, baring in mind my stake combined with my friends/famiy that I put on for is now £45.74 (so doubled is £91.48).
Good luck to:
Carnivore Carlisle 15:05 16/1 bet365/ladbrokes double stake
Alfreds Tower Worcester 15:25 9/2 will hill
Paraguay Carlisle 15:35 7/1 will hill
Marina Walk Salisbury 16:20 9/1 totesport
Black Dahlia Carlisle 16:40 11/2 totesport
A total blank here unfortunately, with the double staker setting the tone of the day by coming stone last! Not happy with the drifting of some of the selections too, just one of those days I think.
Anyway here's confirmation:
Carnivore Carlisle, 16th, 20/1
Alfreds Tower, 4th, 9/2
Paraguay, 6th, 10/1
Marina Walk, 7th, 8/1
Black Dahlia, 6th, 3/1

Three today - one double stake
Work's got in the way today so missed a point or two with a couple of these. More worryingly, Sporting Bet let me have a grand total of £2.35 on at 17/2 for Party in the Park, had to get the rest at 8s with Coral - rubbish.
Anyway good luck to:
Party In The Park Beverley 15:15 £2.35 sporting bet, 17/2 £41.16 coral 8/1
Venir Rouge Newbury 18:20 8/1 bet365 double stake
My Pal Val Newton Abbot 20:05 14/1 bet365
An excellent day today with Venir Rouge winning the 18:20 really well, I particularly like it when double stakers come in, and a good price was had as well given the SP. Otherwise both the other selections ran pretty well and My Pal Val I think was second when he fell at the last fence tonight, although well held by the winner. Didn't see either race myself as was having a cheeky nine holes after work.
It all means the bank's on a renewed high :) It hit £1461.92 after Venir Rouge's success, so my stakes are now £29.24.
Here's confirmation:
Party In The Park, 2nd, 10/1sp
Venir Rouge, 1st, 7/2
My Pal Val, F, 10/1

Weekly Update
Time for a quick update from last week.
Monday 15th June 2009 - Sunday 21st June 2009
29 bets
5 wins (17.24%)
7 placed (24.13%)
Level stakes profit: +4.13pts
My own bank profit: £111.42
Decent enough week then without hitting the heights of the early part of the month. 2nd places a bit of a feature, with 12/1, 9/1 and 7/1 shot among those second past the post.
From today, if you're interested, I've decided to put my own bank total in the box to the left with the running totals. Just in case you're relatively new to this blog, my staking plan is 2% of bank (ratcheted at its highest peak), but with stakes reducing by 50% if the bank is reduced by 50%. My most recent peak was £1350.50 (starting from £150 back in the middle of November 2008), so my current stakes are £27.01. My bank at the moment, before tonight's races, is on £1110.79, so £240 behind a new increased stake, but £435.54 away from having to reduce stakes (just over 16 stakes).
Every now and then I get swamped with a feeling that if in the next six months I enjoy the same sort of results as the last six months, my bank would worth more than £10k. But I'm not getting too carried away as I know that a rotten run may be just around the corner!

Two today
Just the two today, and it's going to be a long day before they actually run. Hopefully they'll shorten up nicely because haven't been able to get best odds guaranteed with either of them.
Good luck to:
Highland Storm Windsor 21:10 7/1 skybet
Foreign Investment Chepstow 21:20 10/1 ladbrokes
Not happening today, although Foreign Investment just ran pretty well to finish a close up third. Mixed feelings about the defeat because at least I didn't miss out on 4pts with the horse drifting and Ladbrokes not offering best odds guaranteed (how long, by the way, until every bookie offers this service - the perfect way to steal the march back on betfair?). Still would obviously see the horse win by six lengths though :).
Anyway here's confirmation:
Higland Storm, 6th, 7/1sp
Foreign Investment, 3rd, 14/1

One today - but it's a double staker!
Haven't had chance to update from yesterday yet - was in no fit state last night that's for sure after the day at Ascot! One winner though, and two points made on the day.
As for today just one selection, but it's worthy of a double stake.
Good luck to:
Aberdeen Park Hereford 15:00 15/2 vcbet (which now offers best odds guaranteed I'm pleased to say)
Well Aberdeen Park drifted massively on course for some reason, but then ran a very reasonable race to come third. With best odds guaranteed in play if he'd managed to get up to win it would have been a brilliant return with the double stake, but still a decent performance.
Aberdeen Park, 3rd, 14/1

Five today
Five today, not great prices about, Silver Grecian is the subject of a massive plunge.
Good luck to:
Glen Molly Newmarket 14:10 7/2 bet365
Art Value Redcar 14:50 9/1 betfred
Mastership Redcar 15:30 4/1 stan james
Zuzu Newmarket 15:50 8/1 bet365
Silver Grecian Newmarket 16:20 4/1 bet365
A profitable day with Silver Grecian drifting a bit after being massively backed and then winning as connections expected, bet there were some sore heads about come Sunday morning after that one scooted home on debut. Just a shame I didn't get on a tad sooner but mustn't grumble!
Here's confirmation:
Glen Molly, 4th, 3/1sp
Art Value, 5th, 13/2

An exciting day ahead, lots of horses being very well backed, and three double stake shots.
Good luck to:

Can't update properly until Sunday
But the form today 1st 1st, 2nd, nowhere, 2nd, 2nd, 2nd.
FOUR SECONDS - what the hell??
Good day though and profitable, but could have been even better.
Off to Royal Ascot tomorrow! Will try to post tomorrows bets before racing in the morning.
Ok Sunday night now and just catching up with this - what a day Friday could have been!
Here's confirmation of results and sps.

Seven today - one double
Interesting looking day ahead, and quite an important one for me personally because if the first six runners lose, I'll be reducing my stakes by half. Hopefully one of them can pop up and secure a nice return. As it is I've placed half stake on the seventh runner assuming the worst, but will top up if necessary.
If things do drop down to £675 then I'm still pretty relaxed about it as this is what happens with a fairly aggressive staking plan, and it's just the buffer kicking in which is it's very purpose!
Anyway good luck to:
Dreamonandon Hamilton 14:55 6/1 stan james/sporting bet (£10.53 with sporting bet)
Talk of Saafend Hamilton 15:30 12/1 coral/stan james (£16.50 on with SJ)
The Salwick Flyer Hamilton 16:45 10/1 will hill
Jealous Again Ascot 16:55 10/1 bet365
Mister Pink Worcester 17:10 12/1 sporting bet
Liberally Ripon 20:20 6/1 bet365 double stake
Grey Command Ripon 20:50 13/2 will hill
The yanks do it again at Royal Ascot then, in grand style, and just in the nick of time for my bank, although could have done with a winner from the four stakes that followed.
Plenty of decent value about though today with early prices beating SP in every race.
Here's confirmation:
Dreamonandon, 8th, 100/30sp
Talk of Saafend, 6th, 9/1
The Salwick Flyer, 9th, 8/1
Jealous Again, 1st, 13/2
Mister Pink, 11th, 6/1
Liberally, 4th, 4/1
Grey Command, 4th, 11/2
The bank is now on £918.34, nine stakes of £27 away from seeing my bets halved, still a bit too close for comfort.

A couple of graphs
If you've been following the blog for a while, you may remember I put a few graphs on plotting my bank a while ago.
It's been a while since I've done any similar so thought I may as well put a couple of now.
The first is my progressive staking bank graph (bets currently £27.01 from a high of £1350.50).
Here it is:

And this is how the level stakes progress has been, with a 1 pt stake starting on a zero bank.

Four today, two double stakes
Quite an interesting looking day and thankfully problem free with the connection today.
And always nice to have a runner at Royal Ascot - in the first race no less! By the way am amazed at how pathetic Stan James are for laying bets. Only allowed £33 on Classic Legend and the rest had to be topped up with Coral.
Good luck to:
Alexandros Ascot 14:30 8/1 bet365
Classic Legend Thirsk 16:00 6/1 stan james/coral DOUBLE
John Keats Thirsk 17:10 8/1 bet365
Kenwyn Newton Abbot 19:45 9/2 will hill DOUBLE
Been stuttering for a little while now, and today no exception. This may be the little correction I feared after an excellent spell of winners. John Keats met a little trouble in running before finishing 3rd, and Kenwyn unseated after a mistake but there we go, hope for better tomorrow.
Anyway here's confirmation:
Alexandros, 8th, 13/2
Classic Legend, 5th, 100/30
John Keats, 3rd, 8/1
Kenwyn, UR, 9/2

Six today - one double stake
Busy day today and really frustrating pursuit of the best prices, a mixture of them going quickly and also my internet connection failing numerous times. Fortunately am on best odds guaranteed with all these which is a bonus.
Anyway we're there now, albeit with the loss of quite a few points here and there, particularly in regard of the first, which is being backed at the moment as if defeat is out of the question!
Good luck to:
Ingleby Princess Carlisle 14:45 4/1 bet365
Mister Tinktastic Carlisle 17:45 7/1 stan james
War And Peace Windsor 19:30 6/1 bet365
Top Man Dan Warwick 20:40 8/1 will hill
Silver Waters Windsor 21:00 8/1 will hill double stake
Dens Gift Warwick 21:10 5/1 bet365
Well a slight profit on the day, but it promised much more after Mister Tintastic's win at Carlisle. Otherwise a blank, although Dens Gift was only beaten in a photo.
Fair bit of value about despite missing some of the best prices, although the double staker drifted which is very annoying!
Anyway a 1pt profit on the day, here's confirmation:
Ingleby Princess, 9th, 6/1sp
Mister Tinktastic , 1st, 9/2

just one , just in time to post,

Tomorrow/today
Just to say I'm afraid I'm going to have virtually no chance of putting the selections up here before racing tomorrow.
Even getting the bets on at all will be a struggle as I'm out for the day.
As ever, will do my best though!

Three today two double stakes
Relatively quiet Saturday, with three selections. Short Cut is being backed like mad at the moment, and it was a race to get the 10/1.
Good luck to:
Victorian Art Bath 14:15 5/1 stan james double stake
Lambourn Genie Bath 15:55 11/2 sporting bet
Short Cut Leicester 21:10 10/1 boylesports double
Well the day started badly with Victorian Art beaten a head, Lambour Genie then drifted before running abysmally and then the most disappointing display of them all from Short Cut. I know the horse ran very freely but why Seb Sanders contstantly had to battle with it and then give him a couple of sharp pulls is beyond me. It was a 6 furlong race for God's sake, just let the horse run. Am no expert but feel he wasn't given a hope of winning.
Anyway nice to see the double stakers start at much lower price than backed at, and here's confirmation of results with sps.
Victorian Art, 2nd, 3/1
Lambourn Genie, 8th, 7/1
Short Cut Leicester, 9th, 5/1

Interesting thoughts on market moves
I hope Dave Nevison doesn't mind me taking a little extract from his very decent book No Easy Money - A Gambler's Diary ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/No-Easy-Money-Gamblers-Diary/dp/1905156480/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1244794758&sr=8-1)
In it there are a couple of interesting paragraphs on his thoughts on market movers. It's funny that there seems to be a pretty long held belief among some racing enthusiasts that people who follow the money (i.e sheep/lemmings etc) will be up against it to win over time.
Anyway in his book Dave appears to have at one time held this view, but is now changing his mind.
P328
"My approach to fixed-odds betting still works but, increasingly, I think I need to adjust it, and in a way that is difficult for me. Although I've got only a limited amonut of research to back this up, I believe that market movements are now more significant than they used to be and that I have made less money thank I could have done recently because I have continued to put my tissue before the market. As I have suggested earlier, I should probably give more weight to late changes in market sentiment and keep backing horses when they pass through my tissue rice in a positive direction, while resisting the temptation to back those moving through my tissue price in a negative direction. I don't find that easy, because it involves reshaping my concept of value, and I am in a transistion phase with it."
I find it all quite interesting anyway, although I've found that this importance in the of the market to have been in place for a few years now.
Right better get off to work. Here's to another decent day ahead.

Wow - TEN today - two with double stakes
Back with a bang today after yesterday's day off.
Several being very nicely backed, others being nibbled out in a decent way as well.
It's good luck to:
Peking Prince Newbury 14:10 8/1 boylesports
Midnight Cruiser Nottingham 15:00 12/1 bet365
Getcarter Newbury 16:25 4/1 will hill
Style Icon Yarmouth 16:35 5/1 bet365
Fisadara Nottingham 16:45 12/1 sporting bet
Iceman George Newbury 17:25 8/1 ladbrokes

Festive Chimes Uttoxeter 20:40 8/1 will hill
Bold Cross Haydock 20:50 5/1 will hill double stake
Peacefull Waters Fontwell 21:00 7/1 betfred double stake
Well it had the possibility of carnage, but a very pleasing day today with around 15pts added to the tally! Three winners - and just a bit of a shame that there were so many withdrawals in the Bold Cross race because he absolutely hacked up. Anyway another good day, and this excellent run doesn't seem to be ending just yet!
Ok here's confirmation:
Peking Prince, 1st, 10/1 sp (best odds guaranteed in play)
Midnight Cruiser, 3rd, 12/1
Getcarter, 6th, 11/4
Style Icon, 5th, 11/2
Fisadara, 8th, 9/1
Iceman George, 1st, 6/1
Spiritofthewest, 7th, 9/2
Festive Chimes, PU, 13/2
Bold Cross, 1st, 13/8 (I get paid 9/4 by Will Hill)
Peacefull Waters, PU, 8/1

No selections today
Very unusual by recent standards, but no horses today tick enough boxes and so we have no runners today.

Four today - with three double stakes
Could be quite an explosive day today, with just four selections, but three of them strong selections.
Good luck to:
Honimiere Redcar 15:00 6/1 coral double stake
Darfour Redcar 17:45 6/1 bet365 double stake
Prey Bird Southwell 18:30 10/1 betfred double stake
To Arms Southwell 20:00 9/2 Will Hill
Well a blank today, Prey Bird was very nicely backed but then jumped poorly before unseating his rider. Otherwise nothing much to comment on apart from roll on tomorrow!
Here's confirmation
Honimiere, 4th, 8/1sp
Darfour NR
Prey Bird, UR, 11/2
To Arms, 3rd, 11/4

Weekly Update
Monday June 1st 2009 - Sunday June 7th 2009
This was a sensational week, unquestionably the best since the plan began.
Plenty of big priced winners including at 10/1, 11/1, 16/1 and 25/1(r4 15pded).
My personal bank went from £273.60 to £1064.10, with the progressive staking really kicking in in good style, and the "double stake" system worked well too with a couple of winners. It meant my bets went from £5.95 at the start of last Monday, to £21.72 at the start of this week.
But to level stakes, things were still very impressive as well.
Bets: 33
Wins: 9 (27.27%)
Placed: 6 (18.18%)
Level stakes profit: 78.25pts
Roi: 237.12%
Clearly things can't possible continue in this spectacular way but regardless of what happens it means my bank is finally on a decent level to really go to war with.

Six today - one double stake
Really frustrating morning because of work. Charging around like a blue ar*e fly while trying to get my bets on, and had to rely on Betfair. Greedily looked for a half a point extra on some of these and got my fingers burnt two hours later when a couple hadn't been matched and the price continued to crumble.
Still, lesson learnt, if I'm out and about and have to get on via Betfair, just take whatever back price is available. Liquidity was a problem today as well though, even at the relatively small stakes I'm trying to get on.
Anyway the horses don't know the behind the scenes struggles of course so good luck to:
(Betfair odds except where indicated)
Tank Buster - Newton Abbot 4.00, 7.2
Generous Lad - Folkestone 4.15 4/1 Will Hill
Keelong - Pontefract 7.20 11.5
Pippabrook Gold - Windsor 8.30 6/1 Ladbrokes (double stake)
He's A Humbug - Pontefract 8.50 13.5
Commander Wish - Pontefract 9.20 18
Tank Buster started the day in good style winning the first at 5.84/1 after betfair charges. Following that a bit of close but no cigar sort of day, with Commander Wish running a fine race in the last at 17/1 but could only finish third. Delighted he could only stay on into third actually otherwise I'd be pretty annoyed with the winner "bursting the stalls" in the manner he did. He's a Humbug was a non runner meaning a slight profit on the day.
Here's confirmation:
Tank Buster, 1st, 4/1sp
Generous Lad, 3rd, 100/30
Keelong, 10th, 14/1
Pippabrook Gold, 12th, 11/2
He's A Humbug - NR
Commander Wish, 3rd, 20/1

Three today
Managed to update after all - just leaving now!
Two horses in one race today, which I normally don't like doing but at 25/1 Golden Prospect's worth a dabble.
Good luck to:
Carmenero Brighton 15:00 9/2 will hill
Golden Prospect Brighton 15:00, 25/1 bet365
Imperium Brighton 16:30 10/1 will hill
Bet365 are getting a real hammering at the moment, and another great day today to seal a top week, with Golden Prospect doing the business in grand style! Unfortunately there was a 15p R4 deduction to the winnings, but no grumbling here!
Here's confirmation:
Carmenero, 4th, 4/1
Golden Prospect, 1st, 8/1
Imperium, 6th, 6/1
Will try to post a weekly update later, but may have to wait until tomorrow.

Four today
Four runners today, none of them double stakers, although some fancy prices about so if any of these win it'll be a decent day.
Good luck to:
North Central Musselburgh 14:20 8/1 totesport
Badiat Alzaman Epsom 14:25 25/1 skybet
Blazing Heights Musselburgh 16:05 10/1 bluesquare
Van Bossed Epsom 17:05 10/1 ladbrokes
Really poor day today, with none of the runners looking like winning at any stage and also two of the biggest drifters I've seen of any selection, certainly in the last 12 months or so. I suppose it was to be expected after what's been a very good week so far, but always annoying!
Here's confirmation:
North Central, 6th, 16/1
Badiat Alzaman, 5th, 16/1
Blazing Heights, 12th, 14/1
Van Bossed Epsom, 15th, 7/1
Will be in the car tomorrow morning/afternoon and then at a family Christening so will find it tough to update here before racing I'm afraid, will try though.

Four today
A relatively quiet day today after a busy period, and no "double stakers" in sight.
All the same nice market moves we're jumping on board with.
Good luck to:
Novellen Lad Catterick 15:35 9/2 sporting bet
Pegasus Lad Epsom 17:25 16/1 will hill
Kildare Sun Doncaster 19:40 7/1 totesport
Can Can Star Doncaster 20:15 7/1 bet365
Will update properly tomorrow, but just the one winner today, the first at 9/2 which meant a 1.5pt profit on the day. A few weeks ago for me that would have meant 3 or 4 quid, now it's about £23, shows what happens when the bank grows a bit! Hopefully a decent weekend to look forward to as well.
Just to catch up confirmation of these results with sps:
Novellen Lad, 1st, 9/4sp
Pegasus Lad, 11th, 14/1
Kildare Sun, 3rd, 4/1
Can Can Star, 8th, 11/2

Six today - two double stakes
Bit later posting than normal beacause of work, but six today to look forward to being nicely backed.
Good luck to:
Mickey Pearce, Newton Abbot 2.30 12/1 Totesport
Bourse, Hamilton, 3.40 8/1 Bet365
Brave Echo, Sandown 7.15 4/1 Coral
Ellemujie, Sandown 7.50, 13/2 Sporting Bet
What's Up Doc, Uttoxeter 8.00, 10/1 Bet365 double stake
Maria Antonia, Uttoxeter 8.35 ,9/2 Paddy Power double stake
A couple of double stake defeats ensured a slight losing day, despite a nice 13/2 winner, but both started shorter than backed and ended up placed. Mickey Pearce was well beaten in the first but still ran on to finish second.
Here's confirmation:
Mickey Pearce, 2nd, 8/1
Bourse, 8th, 6/1
Brave Echo, 3rd, 9/2
Ellemujie, 1st, 7/2
What's Up Doc, 3rd, 15/2

Big day - seven runners with three double stakers
Potential for big profits today, while a wipe out would be pretty nasty too.
If Absolute Shambles wins the first then that would be fantastic and another afterwards a complete bonus!
Anyway good luck to:
Absolute Shambles Fontwell 14:30 16/1 bet365 double stake
Freddys Star Fontwell 15:00 10/1 totesport
Beehawk Fontwell 15:30 6/1 bet365 double stake
Blazing Heights Ayr 15:50 10/1 bet365
At A Great Rate Nottingham 16:40 11/2 sporting bet double stake
Meydan Groove Ayr 16:50 10/1 will hill
Benandonner Ripon 20:10 13/2 coral
What a week this is so far, with Absolute Shambles performing heroics to win the first and land a very nice gamble. Incredibly I won more in that single race (£294.74) than I had in my betting bank around 20 bets ago! Just so pleased I brought in the "double staker" system. Benandonner's win in the last capped off a brilliant day, and the others were well backed too - in particular Maydan Groove who ran no race at all and even saw a £6k bet on track at 9/2 according to the sporting life website.
My bets are now £15.28 per selection.
Here's confirmation of today:
Absolute Shambles, 1st, 8/1sp
Freddys Star, 6th, 7/1
Beehawk, 4th, 8/1
Blazing Heights NR
At A Great Rate, 4th, 7/2
Meydan Groove Ayr, 8th, 9/2
Benandonner Ripon, 1st, 6/1

Four today
On we press with four today, and one double staker.
Diamond Lass Ripon 15:00 11/2 bet365
Fastnet Storm Ripon 16:00 9/2 coral
Esme Rides A Gaine Sedgefield 20:35 9/1 will hill double stake
Mefraas Folkestone 20:50 7/2 ladbrokes
Another profitable day, but only by half a point after Esme Rides A Gaine got going a mile too late to finish a well beaten 5th and Mefraas was beaten a head when it looked like he was going to win a few yards from the line. Annoyingly, it was the second day running where the majority of selections drifted a little by the off.
Anyway another 1/2 a point to add to the tally.
Here's confirmation:
Diamond Lass, 5th, 13/2
Fastnet Storm, 1st, 4/1

Marvellous May
May was a good month. It had a slowish start but picked up after a few days and kept driving forwards.
My own bank, with it's slightly odd staking plan saw a boost of just over 60%, which is actually less than I had in April (63.8%) because of reduced stakes kicked in half way through the month, but because of the increased starting stake saw returns almost double of that in April (if that makes any sense!).
May:
122 bets
23 wins (18.85%)
25 placed (20.49%)
Level stakes profit: 37.08pts
ROI: 30.39%

Seven runners today, two double stakers
A very busy day today with a flurry of runners throughout the afternoon and then this evening. Two double stakers to look forward tonight as well. Let's hope June can start in decent shape!
Good luck to:
Haulage Lady Carlisle 15:15 12/1 bet365
Ingleby Princess Carlisle 15:45 13/2 paddy power
Stonehaugh Carlisle 16:45 10/1 bet365
Carleton Windsor 19:25 Sporting bet 4/1
Ruud Revenge Thirsk 20:10 9/2 will hill double stake
Toy Top Thirsk 20:40 10/1 will hill
Gloucester Windsor 20:55 9/2 Ladbrokes double stake
A superb day, with a 10/1 winner, a 11/1 winner (best odds guaranteed in play - thank you mr hill), and a double staked 9/2 shot to finish things off. June's started in almost the best possible way, let's hope it can continue! Ironically it wasn't actually a very good day for value for a change (apart from, pleasingly, the double stakers), which is the backbone of what this system's all about, but I won't complain!
Here's confirmation:
Haulage Lady, 6th, 16/1sp
Ingleby Princess, 4th, 8/1
Stonehaugh, 1st, 10/1
Carleton, 6th, 4/1
Ruud Revenge, 4th, 5/2
Toy Top Thirsk, 1st, 11/1
Gloucester, 1st, 11/4
It all means I'm on another "renewed high" of £8.61, which is quite extraordinary given I was on bets of about £2.57 as recently as May 18th, and shows how great the recent run has been. Please let things keep going this way!

Two today
A couple of runners today, one of which came close to being a "double staker" but not quite.
Good luck to:
Tricky Trev Bath 14:40 12/1 bet365
Backstage Perth 15:50 11/2 betfred
Tried to get on via stan james to get the best odds guaranteed on Backstage, but their notoriously unreliable website isn't working properly again.
Well Tricky Trev ran a bit of a stinker after continuing to be well backed, but Backstage did exactly what appeared to be expected at absolutely hacked up.
After what's been a fantastic month, it seems appropriate to end on a winner, and another profitable day.
Here's confirmation:
Tricky Trev, 14th, 6/1sp
Backstage, 1st, 3/1

Five runners today - with two "double stakers"
A fairly busy Saturday, with five selections and two meeting the criteria of having double stakes placed on them.
A couple of others came close to being contenders, but as it is it's good luck to:
Mias Boy York 14:40 4/1 will hill double stake
Wild Rhubarb Haydock 16:45 4/1 will hill
Ishe Mac York 16:55 11/1 ladbrokes
Harlestone Snake Goodwood 17:05 9/2 bet365 double stake
Vainglory Goodwood 17:40 16/1 sporting bet
What brilliant weather today, hope Everton win the cup final - am spending the morning painting up the nursery for the pending new arrival!
A blank day today although a few ran with credit, Harlestone Snake and Mias Boy for me both a bit unlucky in running. Decent value on show in the main although Harlestone Snake drifted like mad - which would have been good given the best odds guaranteed were in play.
Anyway here's confirmation:
Mias Boy, 2nd, 11/4sp
Wild Rhubarb Haydock, 6th, 3/1
Ishe Mac York, 7th, 12/1
Harlestone Snake Goodwood, 3rd, 8/1

Six runners today, some big gambles on
Busy day with six strong selections, and one double staker.
Good luck to:
Mr Fantozzi Yarmouth 15:45 4/1 double stake sporting bet
Sequillo Goodwood 16:10 7/1 will hill
Chesapeake Bay Hamilton 17:05 12/1 coral
Last Sovereign Goodwood 17:15 7/2 bet365
Screaming Brave Yarmouth 17:25 9/2 will hill
Captain Carey Haydock 19:10 15/2 coral
Not a great day, and grateful for another photo finish winner when Screaming Brave landed a big punt at Yarmouth. Captain Carey gave away six lengths at the start after completely missing the break and was only beaten about three lengths so possibly a shade unlukcy there. Just a shade down on the day.
Here's confirmation:
Mr Fantozzi, 2nd, 10/3sp
Sequillo Goodwood, 4th, 8/1
Chesapeake Bay , 6th, 12/1
Last Sovereign Goodwood, 6th, 11/4
Screaming Brave, 1st, 2/1
Captain Carey, 5th/ 9/1
A very exciting day tomorrow, as I welcome a few friends and my Dad to the party. I'll be placing bets on their behalf so hopefully things can continue the way they have been for the last few weeks!

Just two today
Very quiet today by recent standards, with only two runners.
Probably for the best though because I've been in meetings this morning, so missed a couple of possible points profit with Cima De Triomphe who's been very nicely backed.
Good luck to:
Applaude Ayr 16:20 12/1 bet365
Cima De Triomphe Sandown 19:45 17/2 will hill
Another profitable day! Cima De Triomphe runs an absolute blinder to mug Conduit on the line in the Brigidier Gerard, after continuing to be very heavily punted, brilliant stuff.
Applaude ran a bit of stinker but still well up on the day.
Here's confirmation:
Applaude, 7th, 12/1sp
Cima De Triopmhe, 1st, 4/1
Great excitment here tonight as well because a good mate of mine has won an online satellite to get to Las Vegas with Ladbrokes with a dream vegas package - and I came a close fourth!! So he's off at the end of June for a week and could end up playing in the main event. Really chuffed for him and a bit jealous too! Told him I'll live my dream through him this summer!

Three today
Much calmer day today after the drama of yesterday, with three selections.
One or two others came close to being found but as it is it's good luck to:
Punching Brighton 16:55 7/2 paddy power
Solway Bee Cartmel 17:35 5/1 sporting bet
Hels Angel Beverley 18:20 4/1 will hill
Quick update because keen to watch the football (Man United to win by two clear goals at 9/2 my interest punt), but not happening today with 0/3. Punching according to the RP website had little luck in running.
Anyway here's confirmation:
Punching, 5th, 7/2sp
Solway Bee, 5th, 4/1
Hels Angel, 6th, 4/1

eight today
Sorry for lack of recent updates, still in devon with no laptop and barely any phone signal. Lovely time though, and about a point down over the three days. Busy today with 8 runners. Good luck to-

Back home after a lovely trip away, made even sweeter by a brilliant 14/1 winner. Not the only winner of the day too, and a couple of others also went close (Where's Reily beaten a short head). Norweigan Dancer's damn saddle slipped after being backed from 13/2 down to 3/1 - can you believe it!!
Here's confirmation:

As for Sunday and Monday, I had one selection on Sunday, which was backed from 4/1 into 3/1sp but only finished 5th and Bank Holiday Monday I had five runners, including a 5/1 winner which drifted to 7s before winning (Zefooha in the 5.05 at Redcar). Was on with betfair so no BOG for me sadly. I also had a double stake selection go down. It all meant the three days Saturday - Monday showed 0.5pt loss altogether.

Six today
Busy today, War Party in the 4.40 probably shouldn't be a selection but have included on account of price (even though I know I shouldn't, just couldn't resist.)
Anyway good luck to:
Magical Speedfit Brighton 14:30 8/1 bet365
Bravely Newcastle 16:30 5/1 sportingbet

Radiator Rooney Brighton 17:25 9/2 sporting bet
Beyond Redemption Stratford 18:10 9/1 stan james double stake
Well there we go, I knew I was tempting fate with my posting last night! A blank day to bring things down to earth a little. Am going away with the wife tomorrow until Tuesday (she's getting bigger than ever!) so may struggle to update here too well until then, though will try to when I get a minute. Even getting the bets on may be tricky, it may be a Betfair job.
Anyway here's confirmation of today's results with sps.

What a week so far
I just wanted to take stock for a moment, and put on screen what a fantastic week it's been so far. I've had five profitable days in a row, and a profit since Monday of 36.73pts
In that time, there've been 13 bets, with 6 wins (strike rate 46%), with an average win odds of 6.13/1. Two double stake selections have also won. I've also missed the very best prices with at least two or three of those winners, so the profits could have been greater had work not got in the way. All that and 4 placed runners as well (two beaten less than a length).
That's a return on investment of 193.26%!
Hope you don't mind me being indulgent by pointing all this out - I only do it because I know it can't possibly continue in such a rich vein - but by God is it enjoyable while it lasts!

Four today again
For the fourth day running, four selections today being nicely backed, including one double staker.
It's good luck to:
Footstepsofspring Goodwood 14:15 6/1 paddy power double stake
Moneycantbuymelove Goodwood 16:00 8/1 will hill
Hippolytus Haydock 17:20 9/1 will hill
Marajaa Goodwood 17:40 9/2 will hill
Well another profitable day today! Although it could have been even better with Footstepsofspring beaten in the last 100yds and then Marajaa came with a winning run but was held by a neck. Still, really pleased with the 8/1 shot which came in, and the other was a non runner.
Here's confirmation:
Footstepsofspring, 2nd, 11/2sp
Moneycantbuymelove, 1st, 13/2
Hippolytus - non runner

Another four today
Hopefully the decent recent spell will continue today with one or more of these. It'd be brilliant if the double staker at the end of the day can do the business too.
Good luck to:
Alwaary Goodwood 15:25 4/1 will hill
Emotive Kelso 15:35 5/1 will hill
Star Shot Kelso 16:10 4/1 bet365
Diktatorship Sedgefield 21:00 9/1 bet365 - double stake
Another profitable day, although it dimmed a little after a bright start with Alwaary winning at Goodwood (beating another of my antepost derby hopes free agent in the meantime) and then no winners thereafter. Still, a new high for the bank and things progress forward nicely. Diktatorship ran a decent race for a long while, and traded at just over evens on betfair before being run out of it a bit.
Here's confirmation:
Alwaary, 1st, 5/1 (best odds guaranteed in place for me)
Emotive, 3rd, 7/2
Star Shot, 5th, 9/2
Diktatorship, 3d, 6/1

Four today
Ok am looking to continue the winning run with four today, including one double staker
It's good luck to:
Reignier Musselburgh 14:20 7/1 bet365 - double stake
Timbaa Yarmouth 15:10 14/1 bet365
Stellite Musselburgh 15:50 7/1 ladbrokes
Dimashq Musselburgh 17:20 7/1 stan james
Another excellent day, and another double stake winner which is brilliant.
Timbaa was withdrawn after getting unruly in the stalls after continuing to being heavily punted on course, so that may have been one which got away, I suppose we'll never know. Interesting to see how he gets on next race anyway.
Here's confirmation:
Reignier, 1st, 5/1sp
Timbaa - Non runner
Stellite, 1st, 13/2
Dimashq Musselburgh, 5th, 11/2
If you've been following the blog for a while you'll know that I switched staking plans to make sure my bank didn't go bust towards the end of March. I initially thought I'd take a small hit and carry on with the stakes I'd been playing with to see what happened, but then changed my mind and brought in a new reduced stake plan (i.e stakes halved if the bank is reduced by half).
If I hadn't changed my staking plan I'd be sitting with £439.05 tonight, but as it is I actually have £222.03. That's pretty sickening but still it shows we're on the right road. In terms of level stakes, the profit is now +56.92pts.
I don't want to get ahead of myself, and I hope I don't live to regret this, but it still amazes me the amount of people who go on the betfair forums and the like ridiculing people who follow the money - "those lemmings will never win!" they shout - well I hope I'm beginning to prove that if you get on the move early enough it can be a winning formula.
Watch out for 25 losers in a row now I've said that.. :-)

Four today
Have four today, including two double stakes. Again I missed a point or two with some of these because I was busy with work, in particular Knapp Bridge Day.
Anyway good luck to:
Bath 3.00 Beautiful Lady, 8/1 Ladbrokes
Bath 4.00 Full Victory, 5.2 on Betfair, double stake
Newton Abbott 4.20 Knapp Bridge Boy, 9/1, will hill, double stake
Bath, 4.30, Rumble Of Thunder, 7.2 Betfair
An excellent start to the week, with a couple of good winners including a "double staker" which is a nice bonus.
Here's confirmation:
Beautiful Lady, 7th, 15/2 sp
Full Victory, 1st, 3/1
Knapp Bridge Boy, 3rd, 7/1
Rumble Of Thunder, 1st, 4/1

Weekly Update
Time for a quick weekly update
Since Monday it looks like this:
24 bets
4 wins 16.66%
6 placed 25%
14 unplaced 58.33%
4.5pt loss on the week
It's been a little while since the last decent priced winner (10/1+) and that's one of the main reasons the bank's been suffering a little recently, as results have actually stayed reasonably consistent. Hopefully one or two will be around the corner.
Overall we're looking like this:
379 bets
58 wins
15.3% strike rate
Average win odds: 6.2/1
Level stake profit: + 26.19pts
Return on investment: 8.78%

two today
two today,
3.40 ripon ponty rossa 5.5 betfair
4.10 ripon arctic cape 7.4 betfair
Had to update the selections extremely quickly today as was on the way from a Christening to its reception would you believe! Have now corrected it with the correct time of race.
It means that I missed the best prices with both of them, again, which is very frustrating but just can't be helped sometimes, until I employ that "putter on-ner" I talked about a few weeks ago!
Anyway a profitable day with Ponty Rossa doing the business, and value was still had again, here's confirmation:
Ponty Rossa, 1st, 3/1
Arctic Cape, 6th, 9/2
A "renewed high" of a bank incidentally of £2.57 (needless to say since switching to lower stakes to protect the bank, level stakes is showing 4pts profit).

Just two today
Neither of these are strong selections, but make the cut nonetheless.
Good luck to:
Twice Over Newbury 2.40 17/2 will hill
Brunelleschi Newmarket 17:15 6/1 bet365
Not happening today, but Twice Over ran a cracker in the Lockinge, and Brunelleschi sounds pretty unlucky in running getting squashed onto the rail at one point (not seen the race myself). Anyhow 0/2 on the day and here's confirmation
Twice Over, 3rd, 15/2
Brunelleschi, 10th, 4/1
