Results Update

A couple more seconds and a winner since our last update, which had a pretty brutal 45p R4 deduction imposed on it (given the way he won so easily you have to wonder if any of those who pulled out what have got close.

The winner was Croco Bay, at Kelso on Sunday, and R4 aside at least he got us back to winning ways. Pixilated ran well for Richard Hughes at Goodwood last Friday but ran into one and similar can be said for Classical Diva yesterday at Redcar who was very well supported on her debut but went down by half a length.

For a 16/1 shot Tamarillo Grove ran ok for a decent length of time today at Newton Abbot and could be one to keep an eye on particularly on a bit quicker ground.

What a run!

What a run we're on! Four seconds in a row, all collared late on, advised at 4/1, 8/1, 6/1 and 11/1 and they traded at 1.05, 1.02, 1.22 and 1.24 respectively before getting turned over.

If those prices were spun around and we considered what would be the in-running price on the horse not winning, i.e roughly speaking 20/1, 50/1, 9/2 and 4/1 - you'd be talking nearly 30,000/1 as a four-timer!

Still we'd always rather the selections run well rather than poorly.

The last four seconds have all been carbon copies of each other really, all leading going into the closing stages before something just got up to beat them. Before that, Papa Caruso and Monsieur Rieussec showed up well for a good while without either ending up troubling the judge.

So we're licking our wounds a little at the moment, particularly when considering we've also had in this month selections hitting 1.01, 1.03 and 1.4 without winning, it's quite something really! But still we live to fight another day and there's still plenty of time for things to correct themselves back in our favour for the month.

Not Amused

Two of our three selections ran with a lot of credit today and we surely should have had a winner with the very well backed Amuse Me absolutely cruising in behind the leaders before taken off on a wayward course and blundering two out before staying on again to finish a not-beaten-far third. Pilgrims Rest at Goodwood ran a blinder but got collared by a strong finisher, to come second.

May is still nicely in profit but if things had fallen differently we could be well up. We've had 20 selections of which 3 have won, 4 have come second and three have come third, with four having lost having traded odds on in running (including 1.01 and 1.03). Here's hoping for compensation tomorrow!

Running well

May remains nicely in profit but there's no doubting that with a shade more fortune we'd be really rolling on. We had a 1.01 turned over on the first day of the month, and then yesterday we had a 10/1 shot caught on the line to dead-heat after looking like a certain winner in the final yards (Classic Punch - Beverley, advised at 10/1 - went off 11/2). Then today we had two trade odds on (touching 1.8 then 1.03) before finishing second.

Still, they're running well in the main and if things keep like that we should continue to press on unless we get very unlucky.

Here are the results - notice we're now putting the lowest in-running price which we hope goes some way to showing whether the horse was well in contention or not at any point (though of course can be a little misleading if a horse makes a rattling late run, for example).
