Three with a double

Nothing doing yesterday but we have three today, including a double on one of JP McManus's for this evening.

Muss 2.50 Kassab 9-2 B365

Muss 3.25 Northern Acres 8-1 Lads

Bang 7.20 Franchoek 9-2 B365 DOUBLE STAKER

Good luck to them all...

The month ends with a bit of a damp squib. Both selections which went to post drifted from this morning, and while Kassab ran ok Northern Acres was swallowed up quite readily. Franchoek was a non runner. It means that a couple of points is lost on the day, leaving the April total at 30.6pts of profit, the best month this year by the narrowist of margins, 0.1pts! (January).

Confirmation of results with sps:

Kassab, 3rd, 11/2

Northern Acres, 7th, 10/1

Franchoek, NR

Email service - 16 days until launch

After a cracking day yesterday, it may be a good time to do a quick reminder that we're getting closer to the launch of the email service!

Please do send a note to winningafortune@yahoo.co.uk if you're interested in getting details of selections sent straight to your inbox.

This will be completely free for the rest of the summer and the emails won't be used for any other purpose than to send out selections and details of any news on a new website which is being launched in connection with this blog.

It's been a brilliant 2010 so far and we have high hopes things will continue, and it would be great to have you involved.

As you may already know, come September we'll have a two month break and then crack on with the business of finding profitable market moves from November 1st. I assure you the service at that point will be very reasonably priced. Nobody of course could guarantee a big profit month in month out, but over the course of time, the edge from beating SP on a regular basis will ensure long term winnings.

All the best,
CD

Just one

After yesterday's two winners we have just one selection for you today:

Hunt 8.10 Konigsbote 6-1 Lads

Good luck to that one..

Nope not today, Konigsbote drifting a bit and then not running well. Not sure if the rain got into the ground to change things a bit but the selection was well beaten.

Confirmation with sp:

Konigsbote, 7th, 17/2

Wednesday 28 April 2010

Two doubles for Wednesday

A really battling second by the sole selection yesterday, not beaten far after three and a half miles. Looking to go one better today with two doubles, both over the sticks at Southwell :

South 2.30 Mad Professor 5-1 B365 DOUBLE STAKER

South 3.05 Grenoli 11-2 Totesport DOUBLE STAKER

Good luck to them both...

John Cornwall's my new favourite trainer. A brilliant double up, and two very easy winners. Double staking just makes things even sweeter. Mad Professor was the subject of sustained support which was obviously completely warranted. Grenoli was nicely backed too and won literally by a distance. Brilliant. And well done Joseph Cornwall too for a couple of cracking rides - he certainly wasn't stopping on Grenoli!

The only slight downer was a R4 in the 2.30 race, meaning I was paid at 4.2/1 with bet365 but all in all a cracking 19.4pt profit on the day, and a renewed high for the bank so a new stake to be found from tomorrow.

Results with sps:

Mad Professor, 1st, 5/2

Grenoli, 1st, 9/2

By the way, what a terrific match tonight, really compelling stuff from the Nou Camp and delighted for Mourinho, Inter definitely deserved to go through.

Tuesday 27 April 2010

Just one

Just one runner today so good luck to:

Sedg 7.20 Neptune Equester 11-2 B365

A very decent run here by Neptune Equester, beaten a couple of lengths after looking like he had every chance at the last fence.

Confirmation of result with sp:

Neptune Equester, 2nd, 4/1

Monday 26 April 2010

Big Monday

After a successful weekend we hit the ground running for the start of the working week with four doubles and a single.

Newc 2.10 Angle of Attack 6-1 B365

Tow 3.50 Gershwinner 11-2 Betfred DOUBLE STAKER

New 4.40 Silly Gilly 8-1 Lads DOUBLE STAKER

New 5.45 Sharp Sovereign 6-1 W Hill DOUBLE STAKER

Win 7.10 Hierach 3-1 P Power DOUBLE STAKER

Good luck to them all...

Ouch, really poor day today, certainly in terms of returns. In the daily pursuit for beating the SP things weren't great either with two value picks and the rest a tie. Overall a nasty nine points lost on the day.

Confirmation of results with sps:

Angle of Attack, 10th, 6/1

Gershwinner, 6th, 11/2

Silly Gilly, 9th, 5/1

Sharp Sovereign, 3rd, 9/2

Hierach, 7th, 3/1

Sunday 25 April 2010

A quiet Sunday

Nothing fitting the bill today to get involved, so a quiet Sunday ahead. Good luck if you're having a bet.

Another busy week of racing ahead though, so hopefully plenty of opportunities to come over the next few days.

Just to say thanks to everyone who's registered an interest in getting the emails through, please do drop a quick line to winningafortune@yahoo.co.uk if you want them when it starts up in the middle of May.

Cheers,

Saturday 24 April 2010

Four today, one double

Quite a busy day today, prices going quickly in places. All selections are now online.

Good luck to:

Directorship Sandown 13:00 12/1 Coral

Spirit of Sharjah Leicester 15:35 9/2 Bet365

Turn The Tide Haydock 17:30 13/2 Coral

Johnmanderville Haydock 19:05 11/1 Coral double stake

Back into profit for the week with a decent couple of winners, just a slight regret Turn The Tide wasn't a double stake selection, great profile as an unraced two year old, backed all day and then won as expected, great stuff, bet there's some partying tonight in the camp! Eight point profit all told, nice to get back to winning ways after a frustrating few days. Directorship ran well too.

Confirmation of results with sps:

Directorship, 3rd, 7/1

Spirit of Sharjah, 1st, 7/2

Turn The Tide, 1st, 7/2

Johnmanderville, 12th, 12/1

Friday 23 April 2010

Just the two

After yesterday's disappointments we hope for better with these two:

San 1.10 Invincible Soul 4-1 B365

Per 4.15 Solis 5-1 Betfred

Good luck to them both.

Nothing doing here, though Solis ran into a place. Invincible Soul was a bit disappointing after continuing to be well backed.

Results with sps:

Invincible Soul, 6th, 5-2

Solis, 3rd, 9-2

Thursday 22 April 2010

Four with a double

A disappointing day yesterday but we have four selections today, with one of them a double so it's good luck to:

Bev 2.30 Haljaferia VCBet 7-1 DOUBLE STAKER

Font 4.30 Hampton Court 4-1 Bet365

Bev 4.40 Tia Juana 10-1 Bet365

Bev 5.15 Dispol Diva 8-1 Totesport

Quite a poor day today, although Hampton Court came damn close to a winner, beaten a head over three miles three furlongs.

But yes not happening today, five points lost, and look forward to better tomorrow.

Results with sps:

Haljaferia, 8th, 11/2

Hampton Court, 2nd, 2/1

Tia Juana, 6th, 10/1

Dispol Diva, 11th, 5/1

Wednesday 21 April 2010

2010 stats so far

Evening all, just been having a quick look through results for 2010 so far.

It's been a good year up to now, with a healthy profit and a decent strike rate. The double stake system has made sure that I've added 15pts of profit so that's pleasing as well in terms of staking plan.

This is how it's looking:

213 bets
37 wins (17.37% strike rate)
Average odds: 6.49/1
Average win odds: 6.49/1 (strange coincidence!)
Longest win sequence: 3
Longest losing sequence: 19
Level stakes profit: 79.7pts
ROI: 31.38%

I hope this fine weather continues for as long as possible because that's definitely a help too.

Can I also say thanks to everyone who's asked to be put on the email list, it's much appreciated.

If you'd like to join in don't forget to send a quick note to winningafortune@yahoo.co.uk

Cheers,

Three at Epsom

Three runners for you today, all at Epsom. Here they are:

2.20 Rocket Rob 9-2 Betfred

2.55 Rajeh 6-1 B365

5.15 Candleshoe 9-1 B365

Good luck to them all!

A couple of near misses today, possibly further strengthening the each way argument! Both Rocket Rob and Candleshoe came late to get their places, but no returns for me as it's win or bust..! Both had to switch left and right to get their runs, and Candleshoe in particular was stone last turning for home but came home really well. Rajeh ran a stinker.

Confirmation of results with sps:

Rocket Rob, 2nd, 4/1

Rajeh, 7th, 7/1

Candleshoe, 3rd, 7/1

Tuesday 20 April 2010

Tuesday two

Just two runners for us today but one is a double staker. It's good luck to:

Folk 2.30 Whotsit 6-1 B365 DOUBLE STAKER

Bri 7.10 The Hague 9-2 Coral.

Remember to let us have your email addresses if you want to carry on receiving information from the middle of May!

Another good day today, with The Hague battling on really well to win at Brighton tonight. It looked like he'd win comfortably before the second, Blue Tango, came back at him. Kudos to Coral too who have paid out at the full 5/1 (BOG) despite there officially being a 5p R4 deduction on the race. Last summer I remember noting on the blog how often morning gambles are slightly more likely to drift on track when they're running in evening racing than normal day events, although, crucially, the results still remained solid. In my experience it's the morning market which is most key for these events, and it makes me grateful that virtually every bookie these days (on the internet at least) pay out best odds guaranteed. Will keep a close eye on this in the coming weeks.

Otherwise, Whotsit never really was going the pace before staying on at the end a little, but could only finish 5th. It all means a 3pt profit on the day.

Confirmation of results with sps:

Whotsit, 5th, 5/1

The Hague, 1st 5/1

Monday 19 April 2010

Four today, three double stakes

After a frustrating weekend, it's quite an explosive Monday to look forward to to hopefully start the week with a bang.

It's good luck to:

Prince of Slane Hexham 14:30 7/1 bet365 DOUBLE STAKE

King In Waiting Pontefract 15:40 11/2 coral DOUBLE STAKE

Pearly Star Plumpton 16:55 5/1 bet365 DOUBLE STAKE

Maraksh Kempton 18:25 9/1 vcbet

A nice five point profit on the day with Pearly Star doing the business well, rallying really well to win the 4.55 by five lengths.

King In Waiting ran ok to pick up the place money but Prince of Slane didn't do much at all.

And then on to Maraksh.. Interestingly I was just commenting on unusual drifts yesterday but this one appears very suspicious. Emma Lavelle's runner drifts on course in a matter of minutes from 8/1 to SIXTEEN to one... and then pulls up after two fences.

Surely she has to explain herself to the stewards for that one. I trust nothing untoward went on there but those betting patterns are odd to say the least given what happened, particurlarly as the gelding was well backed in the morning. Leaves a sour note in the mouth but at least the week's started positively overall.

Confirmation of results with sps:

Prince of Slane, 7th, 7/1

King In Waiting, 3rd, 9/2

Pearly Star, 1st, 7/2

Maraksh, PU, 16/1

Sunday 18 April 2010

Two today

Less busy today but a couple to look forward to.

Good luck to:

Ascot 3.10 Singapore Reef 11/1 Coral

Ascot 4.55 Busker Royal 4/1 Coral (9/2 available with Sporting Bet)

Not happening today, though Singapore Reef would have picked up the place money if I backed these selections each way. He led approaching the last but just got run out of things. Busker Royal was going fine when stumbling and falling on the flat.

Confirmation of results with sps:

Singapore Reef, 3rd, 9/1

Busker Royal, F, 5/2

Saturday 17 April 2010

Yet another big day ahead.

Here are the runners on another busy day:

Ayr 1.45 Ascendent 9-2 VC Bet

Newb 2.00 Manifest 11-2 Lads

Thir 2.25 Wvooka 9-2 B365

Ayr 2.45 Gloucester 6-1 B365

Bang 3.45 Nom de Gurre 13-2 Lads DOUBLE STAKER

Don 5.10 Malpas Missile 9-2 B365 DOUBLE STAKER

Don 7.25 Lady Artemisa 4-1 Lads

All these prices available at time of posting.

**

Not sure I've ever known a day like it. Five second place finishes out of seven. Talk about hammering against the door of a great day. As it was, it ended up being nine points dropped and plenty to stew on tonight. In fairness most of them were beaten at least a length with no photo finish jobs around, but still pretty sickening not to have got at least one or two winners. A note about Malpas Missile, very strange, nicely backed this morning but then the most extraordinary drift on betfair meant the books priced her up at 14/1 on course. The money still didn't really come again but then she ran a very fair race to find only one too good on her racecourse debut. When the layers got stuck in I assumed she's go on to run a stinker, but not to be. Odd happenings there, but would have been a hell of a result with BOG in play! Will hope for better tomorrow.

Confirmation of results with sps:

Ascendent, 4th, 4/1

Manifest, 2nd, 9/2

Wvooka, 8th, 11/2

Gloucester, 2nd, 6/1

Nom de Gurre, 2nd, 17/2

Malpas Missile, 2nd, 12/1

Lady Artemisa, 2nd, 7/2

Friday 16 April 2010

Another big day.

We have plenty of action today, with five runners and as evening racing really gets going there will be plenty more to come.

Today's five are:

New 1.35 Klammer 12-1 Totesport

New 2.10 Meezan 5-1 B365

New 2.40 Sohrab 9-2 Coral

Utt 6.00 Woodcraft 7-1 S James

Chel 7.20 River Indus 6-1 Lads

Good luck to them all..

Well a cracking day, with the first couple getting home first. Sadly Totesport placed a 25p in the pound deduction after a non runner on the Klammer race, so that settled as a 9/1 winner in the end. I do hate it when that happens as I always tend to assume that the withdrawn runner would never have won, but who knows maybe it would have done. With Meezan's win it all means an 11pt profit on the day.

By the way I've had a comment saying that the Totesport price was 7/1 shortly after the blog went up. I should say that the prices I place on this blog are the prices I have backed at, which are normally in the last 10/15 minutes before the blog is put up. Sometimes the prices are actually bigger elsewhere than backed here, but I've not been able to get on with that particular bookie for one reason or another. Normally there are quite a few bookies with the same price as I've backed with, but I just literally reveal the bookie I've backed with. This is because this blog has historically just been about recording my own particular bets, it's only as a matter of interest that has been generated that it is has turned into something more than that.

When I make the changes to the "new era" obviously I'll address this.

For those doubting the 12/1 i backed with Totesport, (and I don't think Alan, the poster, was, incidentally), here's the screenshot of the settled bet.

Will update results with sp later!

Cheers

Confirmation of results with starting prices:

Klammer, 1st, 9/2

Meezan, 1st, 5/1

Sohrab, 5th, 5/1

Woodcraft, PU, 4/1

River Indus, 10th, 13/2

Email service: 30 days to launch

Just a reminder if you missed last night's post, that from Saturday May 15th, you can have selections here emailed to you completely free of charge, and at least a couple of hours earlier than they'll be put up on this site. This should be useful because the odds are very often quite a bit shorter by the time we get nearer to racing.

I just wanted to take the opportunity to mention why the selection process will pause for a couple of months in September before the planned relaunch in November. Basically looking back over results over the last few years, it is around this time of year which has proved most difficult in terms of following successful market moves. Whether it's the exposed flat handicappers on show and desperate stables looking for one last big punt, or, more likely, the very erratic ground, I've found it's just not a good time of year for following moves. Earlier in the year I took the decision that this Autumn I'll be easing off, and that's what I'll do.

In the meantime there's plenty of profits to be had. I'll be disappointed if I haven't secured at least 125pts of profit for the year before then, and I think that's quite a conservative prediction.

If you'd like to register your interest for the free email service please do let me know by sending a quick note to winningafortune@yahoo.co.uk.

Cheers,

CD

quieter day

It could have been a majestic day yesterday but despite a couple of close up seconds we still showed a profit. Today things are calmer with just two selections but one at a very tempting price.

Chelt 3.20 Magical Legend 20-1 Betfred (had bet limited)

Chelt 3.55 Grand Crus 4-1 Coral

Good luck to both...

Well after the drama of the last couple of days, much more settled today, with just the one selection running in the end. A bit of a shame Grand Crus didn't go to post possibly because he was around 5/2 when pulled out. As it was it was the 20/1 shot which carried the cash, and he ran a decent enough race, beaten around eight lengths in the end to finish fifth of 16 runners in the end.

Confirmation of results with sp:

Magical Legend, 5th, 18/1

Selections by email

I have been following market moves for many years, and have detailed records going back to 2003. It is clear to me, beyond any doubt, that if you can follow certain betting moves in good time before SP, then over time you will beat the bookmaker.

I say certain moves, because there are many false or "wrong" gambles on show. There are certain profile of horses and races which should be carefully swerved, and many gambles which are more likely to reverse, with the price drifting, nearer the off.

This blog has been running now for over a year, in which time I like to think that a lot of people have benefited from the selections posted on a daily basis. Although I've been keen at times to stress that I haven't posted selections for tipping purposes, £50 win singles in that time would have returned a level stakes profit of nearly £8000.

Over the course of time, and with the interest that my selections have generated, I have grown to think more and more about what I can do with the horses that I pick. Certainly my selections have proved comparable and in many cases more profitable than many professional tipping services. Basically I started thinking whether I can I turn all my efforts into any more of a financial reward, other than just taking money from the bookies.

So things are going to change a little, although not for some time.

Selections posted on this blog will remain free of charge until September, at which time things will break for two months ahead of relaunching on November 1st. Details of that will emerge over the next weeks/months.

From Saturday May 15th 2010, selections will still be posted on this blog before racing, but the difference is they will be posted just before racing starts, rather than as early as possible.

Those people who want to get notice of selections in good time (certainly before 12.00), thereby making the most of the best available odds on offer, will have to supply an email address which I will use to distribute the selections completely free of charge. After my two month break at the start of September, it is at present my intention to turn that email service into a (genuinely) low-price subscription from November 1st. Naturally people who give their email addresses before then are under absolutely no obligation whatsoever to continue to receive selections.

So in summary.

Selections will continue to be posted here before racing, unless there are exceptional circumstances, until August 31st 2010.

From May 15th, those people who supply their email address will get these selections around two hours, on average, before those watching out for blog updates.

From November 1st, the service will resume under a new, yet to be confirmed format. Whatever happens I dare say winningafortune will still continue to summarise results.

Needless to say I absolutely guarantee all email addresses will never be passed onto any third parties, and will never be used for any other purpose than to supply the names of horses which need to be backed, or the odd account update summary.

While there is no great rush, if you do want to register your interest for the free email service, please email winningafortune@gmail.com.

I hope you understand my thinking for the changes, and I hope as many of us as possible can continue the pursuit towards "winning a fortune".

All the best,

CD

3.55 Cheltenham - double stake

One more slight addition to the earlier post.

The 3.55 at Cheltenham, I'm So Lucky, is a DOUBLE STAKE selection. Still available at 11/1 with bet365.

Another double stake bet

Just to say in case you've missed it another selection has just been added today to the last post.

Longliner in the 3.00 at Newmarket, taken 4-1 with ToteSport - and it's a double stake selection.

Cheers

Getting stuck in again....

The selections are coming thick and fast as we go into Wednesday with another six horses for you, three of them a double, to follow up yesterday's successful tilt at the ring.

They are:

Chel 2.45 Ouzbeck 7-1 Coral

New 3.00 Longliner 4-1 Totesport** DOUBLE STAKER this has been added at 12.16 apols for any confusion

Bev 3.45 Blue Spinnaker 7-2 Coral DOUBLE STAKER

Chel 3.55 I'm so lucky B365 11-1 DOUBLE STAKER ** this was upgraded to double stake at 12.40, again apols for any confusion

Nkt 4.45 Rumosh 5-1 Totesport

Bev 5.30 Domination 4-1 B365

Good luck to them all!

What a day this could have been. Six selections, two winners, but two double staked seconds, including one at 11/1. A very tidy 6.5pt profit, although the couple of horses who found one too good were both just narrowly beaten. I'm So Lucky the one which caused most frustration, looking the winner going over the last, trading 1.12 in running close home, but just hauled back in to go down by a neck to miss out on 22pts, or nearly £300 in terms of my bank.

Blue Spinnaker was a 1.68 job in running. But still, mustn't grumble, a cracking day all told and a renewed high for the bank!

Results with sps:

Ouzbeck, 1st, 17/2 (best odds guaranteed in play)

Longliner, 10th, 10/3

Blue Spinnaker, 2nd, 10/3

I'm so lucky, 2nd, 9/1

Rumoush, 1st, 7/2

Domination, 4th, 9/2

Tuesday 13 April 2010

Busy day

It's a busy time for punting today, with six selections for you, two of them doubles.

Here they are:

Pont 2.20 Guest Connections 13-2 B365

Yar 2.30 Weepy Willow 6-1 B365

Exe 3.10 Bernard 12-1 Lads

Yar 3.30 Vanilla Load 6-1 Lads

Yar 4.00 Jack My Boy 6-1 Coral DOUBLE STAKER

Yar 4.30 Bugaku 5-1 Coral DOUBLE STAKER

Good luck to them all!

A day which could have been nasty, but in the end an excellent eleven point profit with a couple of nice winners! Got the value on most of them as well which is all the more pleasing, and absolutely the idea.

Confirmation of results with sp:

Guest Connections, 4th, 13/2

Weepy Willow, 10th, 15/2

Bernard, PU, 9/1

Vanilla Load, 1st, 5/1

Jack My Boy, 5th, 9/2

Bugaku, 1st, 10/3

Monday 12 April 2010

Three for Monday

We have three selections today, so good luck to:

Folk 3.00 Quasi Congaree 7-2 Betfred

Wind 3.20 Smart Endeavour 7-1 B365

Sedg 3.40 Timocracy 7-2 Totesport

Not been a great few days, and another three points lost today, although we had the price nicely on a couple of these, particularly Timocracy who obviously good things were expected of and he failed to deliver big time.

Confirmation of results with sps:

Quasi Congaree, 12th, 10/3

Smart Endeavour, 7th, 17/2

Timocracy, 6th, 11/8

Sunday 11 April 2010

Sunday Double-

One double staker today after yesterday's was backed all the way into 15-8 but could only finish third.

The horse is:

South 5.10 Lureyno 9-1 P Power DOUBLE STAKER

Good luck to that one

Double disappointment here with Lureyno not running well but also drifting noticeably in price.

Lureyno, 7th, 14/1sp

Saturday 10 April 2010

One but it's a Double

All eyes may be on the Grand National but in the hunt for winners we head across the Severn Bridge to Chepstow where a selection from yesterday who was a non-runner goes today.

Chep 2.30 Stripe Me Blue 5-1 Betfred DOUBLE STAKER

Good luck to that one and to all having a punt in the National.

Stripe Me Blue was backed all day, and ran pretty well, a bit short of room by the last fence and ended up going down by about 2 1/2 lengths. It's this sort of result which makes me wonder if I should do more e/w betting, but I've found that over the course of time backing selections win only returns more. Sadly it's a more frustrating path to tred in terms of stomaching longer losing runs of course.

Confirmation of result with sp.

Stripe Me Blue, 3rd, 15/8

Friday 9 April 2010

Three for Friday

A nice 9-2 winner yesterday and another going well when falling. Hopefully keep things going with these three:

Ain 2.00 La Sarrazine 5-1 W Hill

Ain 2.35 Lenabane 9-1 Bet365

Kem 4.10 Stripe me Blue 8-1 W Hill

Good luck to them all....

Nothing doing today much, with two losers and a non runner. Lenabane's jumping clearly didn't help (hit 6th, hampered 11th, hit 3 out) and may be one to watch if things improve there, only beaten just over six lengths in the end.

La Sarrazine, 4th, 5/1sp

Lenabane, 4th, 8/1sp

Thursday 8 April 2010

Thursday trio

We have three today, with hopes of better fortune.

Leic 3.25 Miss Starlight 9-2 Bet365

Taun 4.10 Mon Chevalier 9-2 Coral

Taun 4.45 Prince de Suil 9-1 Lads

Good luck to them all...

A "ticking over" sort of day, with Miss Starlight a nice little 9-2 return ensuring a 2.5pt profit. Mon Chevalier was still going ok in second when falling three out, so possibly one which slipped away there. Prince de Suil wasn't embarrassed but still never really looked like getting close to winning.

The new flat season, as has been the case for the last few years, is proving pretty profitable at this stage of the season.

Results with sps:

Miss Starlight, 1st, 9/2

Mon Chevalier, F, 100/30

Prince de Suil, 5th, 7/1

I'm off to Prague for a stag do this weekend, (could be messy!) but my Dad will continue to place bets and put selections up here. Will update full results when I get back. Snowy Morning for the National by the way!

Wednesday 7 April 2010

Two with a double

We have two runners for you today, one of them a double staker so good luck to:

Catt 2.40 Bandanaman 6-1 Betfred DOUBLE STAKER

Nott 2.50 Moorhouse Lad 8-1 Lads

Three points lost today, although Moorhouse Lad ran a decent race to finish second. Possibly unlucky with Bandanaman too as he lost his bit midrace and was eased afterwards, but who knows.

Confirmation of results:

Bandanaman, 9th, 5/1sp
Moorhouse Lad, 2nd, 8/1

Tuesday 6 April 2010

Just one

Only one going for us today:

Ffos Las 5.05 Second to Nun 14-1 VC Bet

Good luck to that one..

Well Second to Nun was looking promsiing for a while, but then fell away tamely unfortunately. Beat the SP again though.

Second to Nun; 5th, 11/1

Monday 5 April 2010

Four today

Quite a few horses being backed today, understandably, given it's a busy bank holiday Monday.

But four in particular of interest here so it's good luck to:

Sallys Swansong Redcar 14:00 10/1 ladbrokes

Born To Perform Redcar 14:35 9/1 ladbrokes

Star Addition Redcar 15:45 14/1 skybet

Alfadora Huntingdon 15:55 8/1 ladbrokes

A bit unlucky not to get a return today, with Born To Perform apparently absolutely cruising and trading at 1.10 in running before being beaten a head. I didn't see the race myself but I know the jock Robert Winston's come in for a bit of stick. Elsewhere Sallys Swansong lost realistic chance with a slow start before finishing strongly to deadheat in third. Star Addition and Alfadora didn't do a lot.

Confirmation of results with sps:

Sallys Swansong, 3rd, 8/1

Born To Perform, 2nd, 11/2

Star Addition, 13th, 12/1

Alfadora, 5th, 11/2

Two for Easter day

We have two runners today, both at Musselburgh:

2.20 Island Chief 5-1 Bet365

3.50 My Arch 18-1 VCBet

Good luck to them both..

A brilliant day with My Arch getting up on the line to win in a photo, fantastic stuff!

Island Chief ran ok to finish third but was quite well beaten.

All in all a cracking 17 point haul on the day to push the month well into profit.

Results with sps:

Island Chief, 3rd, 5/1sp

My Arch, 1st, 11/1sp

It also means my bank's at a renewed high, so stakes from tomorrow are going up to £13.18 win singles.

Two today, one double

Two today, the price on Iconoclast is crashing.

It's good luck to:

Supreme Keano Carlisle 14:50 10/1 lads

Iconoclast Haydock 14:55 9/2 lads DOUBLE STAKE

Nope, not happening today with three points lost. Supreme Keano looked for a minute like he may stay on well but was well beaten in the end, while Iconoclast also was putting in a reasonable performance before emptying out. Surprised to see him go off bigger than backed this morning, certainly wasn't looking that way this morning.

Anyway hope for better tomorrow!

Supreme Keano, 6th, 9/1sp

Iconoclast, 3rd, 5/1

Thursday 1 April 2010

Two for today

Two runners today before the Good Friday break so let's hope for the best for these two:

Folk 3.40 Spitfire 4-1 Lads

Folk 4.40 Illicit 12-1 Betfred

An easy win for Spitfire ensures April starts with a profitable day, although the withdrawal of 7/2 shot Harlech Castle meant a rule4 20p in the pound deduction. Illicit didn't do a thing.

Spitfire, 1st, 4-1sp
Illicit, 8th, 14-1sp
