Here we go

We're off and running for February then, but not the start we would have wanted with four selections not doing the business for us.

TIME COURSE SELECTION 1pt/2pt win Bookmaker(s) / Price(s)

1.50 Taunton Normally 1pt 6/1 Boylesports/Paddy Power
3.40 Folkestone Absolute Shambles 1pt 8/1 Lads
4.20 Taunton Beauchamp Viking 1pt 10/1 Bet365
4.40 Folkestone Meneur 1pt 5/1 Totesport/BetFred

Normally was outpaced but ran on again for his enthusiastic jockey and was a fast finishing third after starting at 4/1.

Absolute Shambles was another which continued to be nicely backed, with an 11/2 SP. His jumping was erratic to say the least though, and all faded out of things after racing prominently.

Beauchamp Viking was our biggest"value" success, with the selection going off at 11/2 at the off, almost half the odds we had. He was being scrubbed along early but began tanking along in the closing stages and looking a big danger, trading just above evens in running. Sadly a mistake three out, and then a worse one two out just knocked the stuffing out of him and despite running on again after pinging the last he had no chance on getting to the leader, finishing fourth just over six lengths adrift.

Meneur was a drifter and ran ok for a while before dropping out of contention.

Confirmation of results with prices (advised --- sp)

Normally, 3rd/15, 6/1 --- 4/1
Absolute Shambles, 4th/6, 8/1 --- 11/2
Beauchamp Viking, 4th/7, 10/1 --- 11/2
Meneur, 5th/7, 5/1 --- 8/1

  1. Another month - same old story, we got the value but where are the winners!!Tuesday 2 selections both pulled up.That's now 190 points staked for a loss of 52 points, some value that is.
Value without winners is no good to anyone.

  2. Hi anon, we've always pointed out the importance of a solid staking plan (100pt bank minimum) as when backing horses at around 8/1 average then long losing spells are to be expected. We've had numerous downswings of around 50pts in the past and always nicely recovered into further profits, so please do try to keep the faith.

I do appreciate it's not easy to always think of the long term but I promise you if the last few years are anything to go by if we keep beating SP then we'll get back what we've lost recently and more in besides in the weeks/months to come.
