Getting closer

Close to a nice return today, with The Cayterers trading at around 1/2 in running before not finding enough in his contest at Bangor to finish second.

Let's start yesterday where we had a selection in the Goodwood Cup -

TIME COURSE SELECTION 1pt/2pt win Bookmaker(s) / Price(s)

3.15 Good Fox Hunt 1pt 7-1 general

It may seem strange, but Pricewise selections are very rarely picks for us, this was our second at Goodwood this week and we quite close, with Mark Johnstone's 4yo staying on well, but never quite well enough, to go down a not beaten far fourth, after starting at 5/1.

Today we had:

TIME COURSE SELECTION 1pt/2pt win Bookmaker(s) / Price(s)
2.55 Thirsk Wigrams Turn 1 pt 6-1 general, 13-2 Betfred (BOG) Tote
4.30 Bang The Cayterers 1pt 8-1 general BOG, 9s Tote, Coral 17-2 W Hill BOG
Wigrams Turn was a big drifter on course and never looked like getting close, although he did stay on under fairly a tender ride once the chance had gone, after starting at 8/1.

A much better effort was had from The Cayterers, who looked a big danger as they turned for home, trading odds on in running, but he didn't have the finishing kick that we needed and went down in second place, beaten ten lengths in the end, after he started at 10/1.

Confirmation of results with prices (adviced/SP):

Thursday 28th July 2011

Fox Hunt, 4th/15, 7/1 --- 5/1

Friday 29th July 2011:

Wigrams Turn, 6th/10, 13/2 --- 5/1
The Cayterers, 2nd/8, 9/1 --- 10/1

It's looking every more likely we're going to see our first losing month since January, but you never know in this game, so we'll see what the next couple of days bring.

On to tomorrow!
